Our Transformation

Building our Beacon – opening November 2023

The once-in-a-generation transformation of Bristol Beacon will create one of the best and most accessible performance and music education venues in Europe. Our brand new spaces will inspire music lovers and artists to come together and share the joy of live music.

The full-scale refurbishment of the venue is nearly complete and Bristol Beacon will reopen from Thursday 30 November 2023 with two international standard performance venues, a bright new restaurant and our cellars in use for the first time as an education and performance space.

Bristol Beacon will be a celebratory place full of warmth and light, where music lovers meet and everyone belongs.

Beacon Hall: our new flagship venue

Our new main hall sits on the footprint of the 1867 concert hall but has been sympathetically and wonderfully restored.

World-class acoustics have been built into the fabric of the hall and complemented by 21st century levels of audience comfort, access and stage technology.

Beacon Hall will be the space to hear the best large-scale contemporary and orchestral music, festivals and family shows, as well as being a flexible space for conferences and exhibitions.

Impact and vision

We’re proud to be leading one of the most ambitious arts regeneration projects in the UK: Bristol deserves an incredible music venue of this scale.

But beyond the bricks and mortar, our transformation gives us a unique opportunity to make space for people to share in the joy and togetherness that live music brings, and to empower people to change lives through music.

More music for more people

With our transformed spaces we can do more, share more and play more.

Our transformation will allow us to present 200 more concerts each year, provide educational opportunities for 10,000 more children and young people and champion more diversity in the music scene, including 100 performance slots a year dedicated to Bristol-based artists.
