Whether you’re 1 or 101, we warmly invite you to come along this half-term to a joyful concert, putting older adults centre stage. Acts from around the community will treat us to a mix of music, movement and spoken word, in a moving celebration of age.
Co-produced by Bristol Beacon, Bristol Drugs Project 50+ Crowd and Age UK Bristol, this Celebrating Age Concert marks the end of the city-wide Celebrating Age Festival (CAF).
The showcase is designed for older adults, and performed by older adults, but will be enjoyed by everyone – grandchildren and grandparents alike!
Performances will include the energetic big band Sisters of Swing and reggae duo band Artuba, fusing guitar, vocals, harmonica and percussion.
Partner organisations will also be available to share information about support and services for older adults across the city.
Bristol Beacon’s work with older people is supported by The Anchor Society, Bristol Care Homes, Grateful Society, St. Monica’s Trust, Paul Hamlyn Foundation, and Triodos Bank UK.

Their tunes draw on a wide range of influences from blues, ska, calypso and early reggae to Irish roots music and even balkan melodies. Expect to smile, wonder and dance to their sumptuous mix of original songs alongside their unique interpretations of some much loved covers.
The Sisters of Swing is a dynamic, all woman big band based in Bristol. The band has been in existence for 13 years and during this time has built up an extensive repertoire featuring swing and big band standards ranging from the 1930s through to floor-filling pop favourites from the swinging 60s.
